Client Map
The internet has enabled people to work from home, or even across the country from their place of work. That applies especially to internet-based services, such as websites. So my clients have been somewhat scatttered throughout the US (and one in London!)—many of them I have not even met in person.
I put together a Google Map of the approximate locations of past and current clients, and you can check it out on my About page.
Why make a Google Map
A Google Map can be really handy if you are planning an excursion or something with various destinations, or if you are weighing different hotel options for a trip. There are also several reasons why you might use one embedded in your website.
Having a Google Map embedded on your site might be useful if:
- your business has multiple locations
- you want to highlight the location of things you discuss on your blog
- you want to provide a map of recommended businesses or resources
How to make a Google map
- To make your own maps, you have to first have a Google account.
- Login, and visit Google maps.
- Click on “My maps” on the left in the light blue bar.
- Give your map a name and description, and decide whether to make it public or not.
- Now add your locations, using the placemarker tool in the upper left of the map. You can also search for a specific location, and then add it to your map.
You can add images, rich text, or even straight-up html to each location.
