Facebook Ads and Notifications
Besides reviewing you privacy settings, you can control what notifications you receive from Facebook, and whether your name and/or photo appears in ads.
In the upper Settings menu again, select Account Settings. This takes you to a page with several tabs.
Notification Settings
The Notifications tab is where you can turn on and off notifications for all manner of Facebook activity. For some items you can have Facebook email you or send you an SMS text message.
Facebook Ads
Facebook cleverly displays ads to you with your friends’ names or photos attached to them, and vice versa. Some examples are shown on this tab. There are two settings on this page—one at the top and bottom. Personally, I recommend turning these both to “No One”. Why should you be shilling for stuff without your knowledge and not even getting paid?
