Useful diagnostics tool
I work on a Mac, and many of my clients work on a PC. So though I use various tools for testing in IE and Firefox on a PC, they are static tests that can’t catch everything. When a client comes across some kind of browser goof, I’ll often ask for a screenshot, which is very helpful. It would also be handy to know some details of the browsing environment though, such as screen resolution, exact browser version etc. Enter SupportDetails.com.
All a client has to do is visit that site, and all the pertinent details are collected. She can then simply email me the whole lot in one simple step. As a bonus, it also records the IP address, so I can easily make a Google Analytics filter, excluding a client from her own stats.
Brilliant!
